How to Style a Bandage Dress With Sleeves

Despite its name, a bandage dress with sleeves isn't quite an off-the-shoulder dress. The bandage dress trend actually dates back to the 1980s, when Azzedine Alaia, the "King of Cling," introduced the look to the fashion world. These body-con dresses quickly gained popularity, and today celebrities such as Madonna and Tina Turner are wearing them all over the world.

Because bandage dresses are typically made of stretchy fabric, they're great for a variety of body types, including curvy and non-curvy women. Some bandage dresses are body-con-shaping, but the material used is heavy enough to accommodate a variety of body shapes. As long as the dress is stretchable and gives the wearer good support and shape, a bandage dress is a great summertime option.

As for the outerwear, a long fitted blazer or denim jacket can add casual and laidback appeal. Or, a fitted blazer or oversized patterned cardigan can add formality. But remember that the outerwear must have style. If you're afraid of looking too unkempt, choose a long fitted blazer instead. A fitted blazer in dark navy color will hide the bandage dress and still give you the look you want.
